Amy Kartheiser, Founder
Amy Kartheiser opened her eponymous Chicago-based studio in 2014 and has been designing high-end homes across the country ever since. A world wanderer and seeker, Amy is constantly looking for pearls of beauty and wisdom that can elevate her designs and enhance the lives of those around her — in both physical and mental spaces. From her extensive adventures to far-off lands and her immersive focus on wellness and mental health, Amy embodies a well-lived life, and her unique worldview and influences ensure each space creates a sense of comfort and curiosity. Amy leads the design process with boundless enthusiasm and creative vision. Her client-centric approach prioritizes transparent communication, impeccable service, and commitment to integrity.
Amy’s passions extend far beyond design. In 2019, Amy launched Under the Same Sky, an organization that aims to raise awareness about suicide prevention and provide financial support for the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention. Through an online store, pop-up shops, and an annual soirée, Amy has found a way to connect her love of design with a mission that is close to her heart.
Amy is a member of the Leaders of Design Council and has been honored on the LUXE Gold List and received LUXE’s Red award for Best Contemporary Designer in Chicago.

Design in a Day
Design in a Day is a one-day collaborative design session created to help homeowners design a space in a short amount of time. Maybe you have the main furniture pieces, but your home isn’t feeling cohesive or reflective of your style. Or, you’re starting a remodeling project and want to ensure all your material, furniture, and accessory selections work together. You need design direction but don’t want to invest in a full-scope interior designer. Design in a Day is the perfect option, catering to homeowners who are willing to do the ordering and installation themselves, but need a little help on the vision.
One-On-One Consulting on Intro
Join Amy on Intro, an online platform that allows you to book video consultations with experts in various fields, to learn everything from tailored interior design insights to business wisdom from her years of growing AKD. Connect over video and chat about art selection, room arrangement, pattern layering, how to launch an interior design business, managing a team, and so much more. Nothing is off-limits!
