I am so excited to reveal one of our latest designs, which you might also catch flipping through this month’s issue of LUXE Interiors +Design. It was an honor to have our work highlighted in one of our favorite publications! Today, I want to share this beautiful Lakeview project with you and talk a bit about the design.

It was a joy designing this home for the incredibly talented artist Natalie Danak, her husband, Rahul, and their three children. A top priority for our team was to create a home that felt like a serene oasis while allowing Natalie’s artwork to shine.  Natalie is a free-spirited, mixed-media artist who inspired me throughout this process. Our team adores her work, and while she might be modest with showcasing her art around her home, we wanted it to be front and center. We felt a more neutral palette would create a negative background so her art and the furnishings could speak for themselves, and we’re thrilled with the way it added an extra layer of depth to the space. 

Natalie wanted a bohemian look and feel and her husband prefers a simpler, more modern look. While marrying the two different aesthetics, we kept the design balanced with feminine curves against the masculine lines and cozied up the cool tones with lots of layers and textures.

We continued this balance of styles, bringing together the softness of the beaded chandelier with hard edges of the lacquer-embossed console to create a beautiful contrast.  

The Danak’s really wanted a home that felt different than everyone else’s – one of our favorite tasks to tackle. We loved incorporating unique, eye-catching pieces into every nook and corner, like the striking mirror that adds so much interest to the room and the Moroccan-inspired light above the piano.

We love when clients are open to mixing metals, as it adds so much interest to a space. Our 2020 trend prediction post heard it first – we’re calling this look to dominate the next decade.

You know us, we love going bold with small spaces! Bringing together brass, marble, shagreen, and a beautiful, bold print made this room so memorable and dramatic. 

We were so pleased with how this Lakeview oasis came together. Thank you to the Danak family for trusting us to create a home you love and to Natalie for inspiring us with your art.

Meet the Artist: Natalie Danak

As an artist, my greatest gift is to offer every glance as an experience of never-ending layers of colors and texture in each painting.  My intention is to gently guide my audience towards new insights from a new perspective in which they can project their own story within each painting.  I have a unique style that secretly blends age old metaphysics of Feng Shui with abstract art whimsically adding symbolic relics and hidden messages. I like to mix vibrant colors with natural calming colors, coupled with strong lines and bold textures.  My ultimate hope is for my work to alter perspectives, emotional states and attitudes through conscious visual intention. What the eyes see, the mind feels.
