As you may be aware, from our past newsletters, Amy Kartheiser Design has been shortlisted for the International Design & Architecture Awards, for our Tribeca Loft project. We are thrilled with the recognition this project has received, however, we would be OVER THE MOON to win the category to which this project has been assigned: “Interior Design Scheme – Americas”.To be completely transparent, this voting is not for the faint-hearted, so we completely appreciate the time it will take you to complete this. Approximately, 3-5 minutes of your time. The good news, our Tribeca Loft project is in the very first category, (Interior Design Scheme – Americas) so once you give the “Green Light” to the Tribeca Loft you will be able to quickly move through the voting. There are 29 categories and you must vote for all categories for your vote to count for our project.

AKD Book Club:September Selections
Reading is, perhaps, my favorite pastime. Some would call it an addiction, but hey, it could be worse. I am a go-to for many friends and family members looking for their next great read so I figured others might be interested in seeing what is on my nightstand too. So the “AKD Book Club” is a bit of a stretch, but I had to call it something, so why not. So here we go:The September Selection includes my 3 favorite books from this past summer. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have.

The One-In-A-Million Boy
One of the sweetest books I have read since The Storied Life of AJ Fikry…It has amazing character development and tells the story of a beautiful friendship between a 104-year-old woman and the 11-year-old boy sent to help her out every Saturday morning. This one will have you smiling, laughing, and even a little bit of crying as you enjoy this sweeping story of life, loss, and unlikely friendships. The story itself is brilliant.

The Great Believers
by Rebecca Makkai
This is a very important book that speaks about the AIDS crisis in Chicago in the mid-1980’s. You will become fully invested in all the characters and their intertwining stories right from the get-go. It was selected as one of the Best 10 Books of the Year by New York Times and a truly beautiful read.

Prodigal Summer
By Barbara Kingsolver
Kingsolver has managed to weave together three storylines in this book, each written beautifully with subplots that intertwine together and character development second to none.Nature and animal lovers will appreciate this one too thanks to the lyrical writing that makes you feel as if you are there. An instant classic.
