Powder Rooms that POP

___________

Often, the smallest things make the greatest impact, a fact that rings true in both life and design. Without a doubt, one of the most frequented spaces in your home is the smallest – your powder room. That makes it the perfect place for you to create a lasting impression. From wallpaper to wow-worthy hardware, here are 6 tips for creating a powder room that pops!

How do you want guests to feel when they open the door to your powder room? Serene? Surprised and excited? Given their size and scaled-down proportions, powder rooms have become the perfect place to go wild with a vibrant wallpaper pattern for the ultimate jewel-box effect.

The flooring is going to be one of the first things guests notice when stepping into your powder room. Choose something that harmonizes, but is interesting enough to give a sense of movement to the space.

__________

3. Chic Mirrors

A glamorous mirror is the easiest way to add a special touch to your powder room. Don’t get stuck in a rut with a basic, square, traditional restroom mirror. Consider using an antique mirror or one that’s oddly shaped and/or sized. People spend a lot of time looking at this piece so it’s worth investing in one that makes a statement.

__________

4. Wow Worthy Fixtures

Splurging on a brass faucet can give you a look you love. Think beyond the standard stainless steel or nickel fixtures and go for something bold. A brass faucet may wind up costing a bit more, but it’s bound to make a dramatic impact.

5. Dramatic Lighting

Lighting in a Powder Room does not need to be perfectly even and lit so this as an opportunity to go beyond functionality and add some sculptural appeal to your room.  Increase the effect by not using fluorescent light and instead opting for low levels of warm light.

__________

6. Floating Vanities

Nothing quite captures the look or adds more visual interest of a modern bathroom better than a floating vanity.  Allowing your sink to float off the ground gives the illusion of more square footage, which is a hot commodity in these small spaces.
